The production of hydrogen to reduce industrial CO2 emissions is occupying many minds. Whether it’s energy-intensive steel production or special chemical production processes, climate-friendly production using green hydrogen is the declared goal.
The use of hydrogen has long been common and indispensable in many industrial sectors: in the production of fine chemicals, nitrogen and fertilizers, as a protective gas in the glass or metal industry, for hardening in food production… The list could go on and on. The focus in this case is therefore on the conversion from gray to green hydrogen. Demand continues to rise.
What is particularly interesting is that in some processes the hydrogen is not actually consumed, but for the most part merely polluted.
This means that the use of a gas recycling system not only offers the opportunity to switch almost completely to “green”. The operating costs can be extremely reduced and the contaminated H2 can be recycled.
For example, a ReiCat hydrogen recycling plant in use for the production of fragrances and flavorings removes CO, CO2, moisture and hydrocarbon compounds. A gas purity of > 99.999 % or > grade 5 is reliably achieved. Our closed-loop technology enables operation without losses. More than 90 % of the hydrogen used is recovered.
In addition to the high availability, the customer benefits not only from the associated high cost reduction, but also from a short ROI.
Change from gray to green? Not quite.
Sustainable? Definitely!
