Sustainable additive manufacturing through argon recycling

Cost reduction for additive manufacturing & metal powder processing

A wide variety of metal powders are processed in 3D printing and additive manufacturing. Whether titanium, aluminum, iron, copper, cobalt- or nickel-based alloys – powder metallurgy cannot do without argon or nitrogen, and sometimes helium, for inert gas atomization.

Did you know that it’s mostly argon too, used for further processing, i.e. plasma melting in an inert gas atmosphere? Argon is particularly suitable for powder atomization, and the fact that it does not occur naturally in its pure form makes it all the more valuable. But argon purification is not only essential for production. The gas becomes contaminated during metal production. Should the contaminated argon now be released into the atmosphere and literally wasted?

Our argon recycling system not only ensures a high level of environmental protection. Both gaseous and solid contaminants are removed. ReiCat has developed a closed circuit for the inert gas supply. Remarkable: Up to 95 % of the used inert gas can be recovered! Our systems offer maximum availability in continuous operation, achieving a gas quality of more than 5.0 (99.999 %). This directly reduces operating costs and amortization takes place in a short time. ReiCat gas recycling offers safe operation and actively renewable energy.
